Glinsk GAA triumph in the Haag

by | Mar 6, 2023

Glinsk GAA were delighted to take part in the European 🇪🇺 11 a side tournament held in the The Hague Netherlands last weekend. Hosted by Den Haag GAA and organised by Mary Gavin and her team , The weekend was a fantastic success. 20 Mens and ladies Teams from Ireland and Europe took part trying to get thier hands on the silverware 🏆. 30 members of Glinsk Gaa made the trip on Friday afternoon, with players, managment and committee flying the Glinsk flag. The tournament itself took place on Saturday starting at 9am, with the finals taking place at 5.30pm. The facilities Zuiderpark – Den Haag were absolutely fantastic with 3 separate pitches hosting the action.

Group stage action seen Glinsk take maximum points with wins over Clontarf GAA Club , Law society of Ireland, Den Haag and @gaeliciagaa. We topped our group which qualified us for the final against a very good Portobello Gaa team. Portobello lead at half time but our boys dug deep to grind out a 3 point win with young Gavin Hegarty making his debut for the club at the tournament scoring a fantastic winning goal. Another debutant young Mikey Connelly was captain for the weekend and he Gladly accepted the trophy on behalf of the club.

Winning the trophy was a brilliant end to a brilliant weekend, but even without the trophy the craic and laughs we all enjoyed will last long in the memory. Friendships were made with other Gaa clubs similar to our own and invites to touring Gaa were offered and accepted. Thanks to the organisers for putting on such a fantastic event. 🙌 Thanks especially to @denhaaggaa and O’Casey’s Irish Pub for keeping us entertained and well hydrated throughout the weekend . See you all again next year 😀👍
